Sierra El Pinito

Sierra El Pinito - Representative VegetationThe Sierra El Pinito is a large Sky Island mountain range located just to the southeast of Nogales, Sonora. The range is dominated by oak woodland, but has substantial pine/oak and some pure pine forest at its highest elevations. There are extensive stands of Willow-leaf Oak (Quercus viminea), a species not currently known from the U.S.
